Off with his Helmet

Jason's helmet came off for good yesterday! We have been kissing his head pretty much non-stop now that we can. Jason wore the helmet for a total of two months. The first month he grew a lot, and consequently his head shape changed a lot. The second month he didn't grow or change as much. We could have chosen to go another month, but we decided his head looked good enough. Jason loves not wearing it, and we are glad to be done with it before the weather gets any warmer. Bring on the sun!

To review the before pictures, click here. Doesn't his head look better now?

To celebrate, we went classic skating at our ward activity. We borrowed a stroller and had a blast skating together as a family. Jason was mesmerized by all the flashing lights and the loudest music he's ever heard.

We got a kick out of his white socks glowing in the black-light. I think this could become a regular family activity now that we know to bring a stroller.

These are a few of his favorite things

Playing with dad

Learning how to crawl (not really, but we're working on it)

More playing with the fan

Reaching for the clock has become a strange obsession of his, whether we are at home, church, or someone else's house.

Visiting friends. This is Kyle with his high school friend Austin and Austin's son Parker.

Symphony

I've been so focused on house stuff that I forgot to share the good news that Kyle and I got to go on a date to the symphony. I thought it be a lot longer before we would be able to go out to do something like that. Thanks, dad, for the tickets! Thanks, Holly, for babysitting! We are so blessed to have family to help us out.

We Got the House!

So assuming everything else sails by smoothly, we will be homeowners at the end of April. We are so excited. It will be great to have our own yard, to not share walls, to make our own updates, etc.

8 Months Old

Jason is 8 months old now. Four months until he is a year old. Crazy. We are having a lot of fun with this little guy.

Recent Accomplishments:
  • rolling all over the place
  • going from sitting position to his tummy (it's mostly a calculated head dive)
  • eating cheerios and other new finger foods
  • objecting when we do something he doesn't like
  • emptying the contents of a drawer if mom will let him
  • working on the pincer grasp
  • becoming the most popular baby in the ward (his helmet might have something to do with that--all the men think it is "awesome")
And now for some picture updates:

Jason in front of the fan--he loves it. We used to have to put him in front of the fan several times a day to cool him down, but thankfully we don't have to worry about it anymore because his body adjusted to the helmet. Now we do it just for fun.

His forehead is red because he rolled onto his tummy during nap time, threw a fit, got rolled back over once, got rolled back over twice, and after the third time in a row, we made him learn to sleep on his tummy. He survived.

New head shots to show the improvement. The helmet still sits crooked because his head still isn't perfectly round.

Shootin' some hoops--a new favorite activity, although you wouldn't guess it from the look on his face. I can't get very many action shots of him because as soon as I bring out the camera, he stops and stares at it. At least he'll look at the camera, right?

Oh Where Is My Husband?

I think he got swallowed by the testing center... Happens a lot this semester.
