After breakfast we let him open two of his presents (Shu Todoroki and Miguel Camino). He has been waiting several months for the last of the race cars from Cars 2 and he actually did a pretty good job waiting patiently and not driving Kate crazy.
Kate asked Jason about a week ago what he wanted to do on his birthday. She gave him the choice between swimming and bowling and he chose to go bowling. We took him bowling a while ago and he loved it. He had just as much fun this time as before. Here are some good bowling shots.
He loved watching the pins get knocked over and waiting for the ball to come up the shute. It's a little blurry, but it is a great action shot.
We borrowed a Lightning McQueen cake pan from one of our neighbors and decorated Jason's birthday cake into a car. He really wanted to help decorate the cake, but he had a cough and we didn't want to spread his cold to the party, so he ended up decorating some graham crackers. Next time I'll let him help out a little more.
Since Jason had a cough all week, the party didn't turn out to be as exciting for a 3 year old as we had hoped (nobody Jason's age came because of his cough). Rather than cancel the party, we thought he would sill have a good time opening presents and playing with sparklers with the adults around.
